Re-envisioning my primary product
Design system improvements and interaction ownership for MyAnalytics/Workplace Analytics; led across team shifts.
Alongside other IC work, I spearheaded the design and implementation of an improved design system now utilized by the sister products MyAnalytics and Workplace Analytics. This initiative involved conducting stakeholder interviews, performing internal research, and extensive visual design work. Engaging in numerous discussions with PMs and engineers, I emphasized the importance of this process and ensured its successful adoption.
Starting with a small team, I led the design efforts through various team changes, becoming the de-facto design lead. My role evolved to manage multiple contractors and remote designers, culminating in onboarding a new manager and additional FTE designers. I ensured they were well-integrated and organized with the existing design files and systems.
Understanding what existed
Documented the existing design patterns and identified inconsistencies across the product suite.
Design system foundation
Established core design principles, color systems, and foundational components to ensure consistency.
Component library development
Designed and documented reusable components including buttons, dropdowns, and toggles.
Layout system iterations
Developed flexible layout patterns and grid systems for consistent page structures across products.
Implementation and validation
Tested the design system in production contexts, gathered feedback, and refined patterns based on real-world usage.
