Vaporize — product design art installation
Glow Workshop installation in Flint, MI; early physical interaction explorations.
Designed as part of the Glow Workshop led by Cathlyn Newell the workshop took a shop space in downtown Flint and designed projects based upon the concept of 'Glow'. I worked alongside Beatrice Lau and William Liow and created the final project you can see below. This was one of my first projects that started to toe the line of physical interaction design, looking into how objects can directly shape users connection to a space.
The core concept was that the hanging pendants developed used a combination of CNC framework, thermoforming, LED-lighting, and creative set-ups with dry-ice and a water pump to create objects that dramatically altered the atmosphere of the space. A step-by-step process of the work that led up the final piece is viewable in the connected images.
I keep this project around (2012 creation now) as I love this space. This was more of an art installation but it really pushed me to think about space and place in relation to interactive mediums.

Technical Implementation
The project involved sophisticated technical implementation including LED wiring, CNC machining, thermoforming, and dry-ice effects to create the desired atmospheric and interactive experience.
Physical Interaction Design
The installation explored how physical objects could directly shape users' connection to a space, representing early work in physical interaction design and environmental experience.
Final Installation & Documentation
The completed installation in the downtown Flint storefront space, showcasing the final implementation and documenting the collaborative process with Beatrice Lau and William Liow.
